PT Conferences
The Herrick Fire Department came to visit our K-5 building during Fire Prevention Week. Students were able to enter a smokehouse, use the fire hose, and learn about fire safety. They were also given an assignment from the firemen: Make a home fire escape plan! Thanks for a great presentation! We appreciate you!

The junior high and high school student pictures were given to each student who had placed an order. The picture proofs were also given to those students who had a retake photo taken. Picture orders for retake students are due back to the office by October 9th.

Cowden-Herrick teachers have named seniors, Timber Watson and August Cosart, Students of the Month for September.

The Students of the Month are nominated each month based on Academic Effort, Attitude, Participation/Contribution, Responsibility and Service. Junior High and/or High School students are selected each month. They each receive $25.00 donated by United Fidelity Bank.

Timber is the daughter of Mandy Watson and Chase Watson. She has three siblings, Hunter, Waylan and Lucy. Timber is a member of NHS, President of Spanish Club, Co-President of Student Council and Editor of the Yearbook. She plays Volleyball for the CHBC Bobcats and Air Assault Volleyball Club. Timber attends youth group at United Methodist Church in Beecher City. Her future plans are to attend Lake Land College majoring in Graphic Design.

August is the son of Stephanie and Ryan Cosart. He is a member of NHS and Student Council. August runs Track, Cross Country and plays Basketball for the CHBC Bobcats. He volunteers at the local food pantry. August’s future plans are to attend college and major in Engineering.. He also plans to continue running while in college.

Cowden-Herrick motto for this year is upheld by these students: “Remember, a strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success.” Congratulations, Timber and August!

Cowden-Herrick announces Mr. Andrew Nohren as “Staff Role Model of the Month of September”. The Staff Role Model of the Month is nominated each month by students, staff and community members. He will receive a $50 cash award donated by Aaron & Devi Hawes on behalf of Lockart & Green Funeral Services. Mr. Nohren teaches Junior High History and Geography. He also coaches Junior Track for the CHBC Bobcats. Mr. Nohren enjoys attending church, sitting by a campfire, playing his ukulele and running. He resides in Herrick with his wife Kristen, and children, Lincoln, Lydia and Titus. Cowden-Herrick is proud to have him as a part of our team!

JH girls basketball practice will start Mon. Sept. 15th from 3 - 5:00 at BCHS.
Girls need to make sure they have a physical and proof of insurance on file.
There will also be a parent meeting at 5:15 on Tues. Sept. 16th.
Sports fees will be due by Mon. Sept. 22nd to Beecher City if you have not paid.

It is National Rock, Paper, Scissors Day and we celebrated with the staff at Cowden-Herrick Elementary School. Teachers and staff collected beads throughout the day with rounds of rock, paper, scissors. The finalists were Mrs. Westjohn, Miss Burrus, Mrs. Parks, Mrs. Conlin, Mrs. Hicks and Mrs. Jefferies. An "all or nothing" round was played and we would like to congratulate Miss Burrus as the first Rock , Paper, Scissors Champion! We are Bobcat Proud!
